Apple Watch Series 3 Battery: How long does it last?
The Apple Watch Series 3 has been announced recently that offers LTE connectivity, a faster dual-core processor, and a more energy efficient wireless chip. So let’s have a look at the battery timings that Apple claims the Series 3 watch to deliver.
The Series 3 watch is said to last 18 hours according to the tests conducted by Apple. The 18 hours of usage include 90 notification checks, 45 minutes of app usage, and a 30-minute workout with music playback via Bluetooth.
Some portions of the tests vary in the ‘GPS’ and ‘GPS + Cellular models of the Apple Watch Series 3. Over the 18-hour period, the ‘GPS’ model was paired with an iPhone over Bluetooth over the entire period, whereas the ’GPS + Cellular’ model was connected to an iPhone only for 14 hours and as for the other 4 hours, it was connected to LTE.
So using all these features for an entire day on a single charge is quite good.
However, if you using your Series 3 Watch for calls, then the battery is going to drain quickly. Over LTE, the watch delivers an hour of talk time, but if it is paired to an iPhone, the talk time increases to 3 hours.
As for audio playback, the Apple Watch can provide you with up to 10 hours of battery time.
Let’s discuss the battery timings for workout. It provides up to 10 hours on indoor workout when paired with an iPhone. And the usage time decreases to 5 hours for outdoor workout, tested with GPS and iPhone disconnected. If LTE is also enabled with GPS for outdoor workouts, the battery timing drops to 4 hours. All of the tests for workouts were done with heart rate sensor enabled.
When it comes to charging, the Series 3 Watch charges to 80% in 1.5 hours and to 100% in about 2 hours.
